All week the weather threatened snow and rain for the 12th Annual David Thompson Snow Riders Grass Drags. However, Saturday came and the race location was blessed with a mix of sun and cloud and moderate temperatures that allowed for another successful event. Racers from across B.C., Saskatchewan and Alberta showed up to contest the final SSRA grass drag of the season, and they didn't disappoint the fans in attendance.

The stock classes always provide some close racing and this event was no exception. In fact, three of the six stock class finals were won on a holeshot! Congratulations to Tyler Matt in 600 Single Pipe, Ray Swallow in 700 Single Pipe, and Jackie Jarema in Stock 800 for getting it done on the starting line and winning their respective classes.

The holeshot victories were not just limited to the stock classes. Glen LaValley's better reaction time beat his competitor's quicker elapsed time on the track to win Improved Stock 700. However, the quickest reaction time of the finals went to Darren Milner who absolutely killed the tree to take the holeshot win in Modified Mountain 1000.

The quickest sled off the day belonged to Brad Humble who took home first in Open Modified 1000 and King of the Grass. The loose starting line and thin air kept him just out of the 4's in elapsed time but his open mod dragster had enough to get the job done.

Drag racing fans like close racing and the Pro Stock 600 final was the closest of the day. With just 0.044 seconds separating first and third, I wouldn't have wanted to call that one by eye!

Congratulations and thank you to the host crew from the David Thompson Snow Riders for holding another great event.
